Before confirming a Marrakech rental, ask separately which payment methods are accepted for the rental charge and the deposit. Check the accepted card type, cardholder requirements, currency and how the deposit is handled. A card that works for an ordinary purchase does not necessarily meet a rental partner’s conditions. What can I clarify without sending card details?
State the kind of payment method you intend to use and ask about the partner’s criteria. You do not need to add a full card number to a WhatsApp availability enquiry. Clarify whether the card must be presented and whose name must appear on it. Also check that the required funds will be available at the agreed time.
Why distinguish an authorisation from a charge?
Ask whether the partner plans to reserve funds on the card or collect a payment, and how release or repayment is followed up. These operations can affect available funds differently. Confirm the amount, currency and receipts provided. Do not assume every bank and card uses the same processing time or that the car’s return immediately completes the banking process.
What should I check before making a requested payment?
Identify the business receiving the money, how it relates to your proposal and the written cancellation arrangements. Ask for a receipt and check that the vehicle, dates and amounts match the proposal. A WhatsApp conversation alone does not turn an enquiry into a confirmed reservation. If details conflict, obtain clarification before paying rather than relying on a vague assurance.
